This resource allows students to practice: pre-reading skills (using a KWL chart to activate prior knowledge and engage with the topic), predicting and inferencing, listening comprehension and the visualization strategy, describing, comparing and contrasting, vocabulary (using context clues to define tier II and III words), generating synonyms and antonyms, syntax (coordinating and subordinating conjunctions), answering and identifying literal and inferential comprehension questions, and more!
Students will examine photos of seven carnivorous plants and complete pre-reading activities. Then, they will read or listen to descriptions of how each plant captures its prey and determine which photo matches with which description. Worksheets accompany each passage to target literal and inferential comprehension questions, syntax, vocabulary, summarizing and more.
This resource was created for mixed speech and language groups at the upper elementary, middle, or high school level, but would also be a gun group activity in science, language arts, or special education classes.
